Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a physician’s referral prior to seeing a physical therapist?

For rehabilitation you are able to see a physical therapist without a physician’s referral for 30 days. After 30 days has passed, we will be required to obtain a physician’s referral due to Tennessee law. The same rules follow for services such as recovery sessions, wellness, and preventative care.

For personal training and sessions to help with bridging from rehabilitation into fitness (including recovery sessions), you will not be required to have a physician’s referral.

Does my insurance company cover this?

We are a direct pay rehabilitation clinic which means that we do not bill your insurance company. We subscribe to this model in order to help lead the fight against substandard healthcare that is rampant in this region of the country. We are able to provide direct one-on-one care to you without insurance companies dictating what we can and cannot do, this in turn allows us to provide quality care that is unmatched from any other clinic in East Tennessee. What we do provide are documents known as “superbills” that contain billing information that you can submit to your insurance companies. Depending on your personal insurance plan and requirements, you may receive reimbursement for our services.

Inquire in order to learn more about options to help you submit your billing information.

What type of physical therapy treatments are provided at Absolute TX?

Absolute Tx utilizes the most modern evidence based treatments that we have learned from industry leading experts across the country.

With rehabilitation treatments we use manual therapy which aids in improving range of motion, reducing and controlling pain, and can provide a window of opportunity so that we can implement strength and motor control movements. Our manual therapy techniques include joint mobilizations, mobilization with movement, soft tissue techniques, manual stretching, and dry needling. In conjunction with above, we also utilize specific mobility, corrective, motor control, strength, and neuromuscular exercises programmed individually so that you can continue to make gains and improvements towards your goals. Along with your programming in the clinic, you will be provided with a specific and actionable home exercise program that will reinforce the improvements made during your treatment session and help you continue to improve even when not in our clinic.

With preventative care and recovery sessions, we will provide manual stretching, joint care, soft tissue techniques, dry needling, taping, cryotherapy, and electrotherapy in order to help reduce soreness, fatigue, and stiffness that you have acquired due to your occupation, recreation, or leisurely activities.

What can a physical therapist do for me?

We provide physical care in order to help reduce pain, prevent injury, and improve both mobility and strength. We utilize hands-on manual therapy in order to help alleviate stiff and uncomfortable joints by mobilization and manipulation, we provide soft tissue techniques, and use dry-needling procedures in order to help you reach your goals. Once you are moving better with less pain, we will then utilize corrective exercise with individualized programming in order to maintain the improvements that our manual therapy techniques have helped us tap into.

When should I see a physical therapist?

The time to see a physical therapist is very broad, and for a good reason. The new age approach to healthcare encompasses preventative care and recovery from injuries. You can book an appointment in order to help alleviate soreness and fatigue, recovery from a back or neck strain, or even just to get a “tune-up” so that you can continue competing and enjoying your leisure and recreational activities.

You don’t accept my insurance….. why is this a good financial decision?

You don’t accept my insurance…..why is this a good financial decision?

You actually save money by coming to our out-of-network clinic! We will commonly structure your plan of care to be one time per week (unless medically necessary or due to your inquiry) so that you can spend less time in a healthcare clinic and more time recovering during activities that you enjoy. It is the “norm” in other clinics to structure your plan so that they can see you 3 times each week, and when calculating costs of co-pay, high deductibles, and co-insurances, you will OFTEN be paying much more to that clinic than you would be paying here. It is not uncommon to end up paying 300-500 dollars each week when using your insurance.

When you visit another clinic for rehabilitation YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SPEND AROUND 15-30 MINUTES WITH A PHYSICAL THERAPIST. This means that you will be paying a large quantity of money in order to spend the majority of your time with assistants and support staff, not even the licensed therapist.

Recovery from injury does not require 3 visits per week to a physical therapy clinic, we value our time and we are sure that you value your time so we will be sure to never waste your time like other clinics will do each week.

At other clinics in East Tennessee, clients pay their co-pay at the time of the visit, and it is often that these people also receive a bill in the mail 2-4 months later for hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Here at Absolute Treatment we believe in being transparent. We will never bill you months after your treatment, unless a payment plan is arranged. We are a direct pay clinic that requests payment at the time of treatment in order to avoid confusion and frustration.

How are you different from other physical therapy clinics?

I have spent time in “traditional therapy clinics” and am well aware of services that are provided elsewhere. This means that the model we subscribe to is unparalleled in quality and compassion. We provide private one-on-one care in duration of one FULL uninterrupted hour so that you can have complete access to our skillsets and so that you are completely understood by your healthcare provider.

We provide you with a direct line to reach us during or outside of business hours. You will be able to call, email, and video chat with your therapist. We do not have “office hours”, instead, we are dedicated to you at all times.

Programming is implemented for all rehabilitation clients. You will have specific and personal programming and accessory work so that you can perform at a high level during your time in the clinic and outside of the clinic.
